Factory and design videos are a little bit of an obsession. I guess it gives us a certain connect to the product we may potentially spend our money on, but also gives you the sense of the process each item goes through. Step-by-step, we get to see each pair of hands the item passes through, and the skill it takes to create the finished product – be that manual or machine-driven.
However I do find a lot of these short documentaries a little throwaway - sometimes you barely get to consider each movement, and it all becomes a little too "oh we best make one of those videos". This short film by ASKET, shot inside a family-run factory just outside Braga, Portugal, manages to squeeze the 50 steps it takes to create one of their new Oxford shirts, into 03:09. Yet it doesn't feel rushed or ill-considered. In fact, it's set at just the right pace for me to take it all in and enjoy.

This video was so satisfying to watch, I find production machinery and processes (for anything really) fascinating!
ReplyDeleteWow the video is so mesmerising to watch! Satisfying too like Jane said. It is amazing how fast they sew these shirts and they look damn beautiful at the end.
