I've been trying to come up with fun ways we can use 4K Photography at home. The idea in this post sprang from a video I saw on Youtube;
a fella climbs into a massive balloon, his mate then fills the balloon
up with as much water as possible. The balloon soon reaches its maximum
capacity, then BOOM! The human jello machine explodes everywhere - with
each millisecond frame being captured using a hi-def super slow mo camera.
I wanted to try something similar - but much simpler - with the LUMIX LX100 camera,
using 4KPhoto mode. After five minutes of trying to fit a box of
confetti into a red balloon I was ready to roll. As the camera captures
up to 30 frames per second
I wasn't able to catch the split-second moment that the balloon
exploded (assistance by Hollie's Mum!), but with a few tweaks of the
settings, I'm confident I can get some punchier results next time.
Overall I'm pretty happy with this 4K
Photography sequence, but I'd like to give it another bash, to see if I
can improve the focus, clarity and capturing more key frames. Variables
could be a different coloured or larger balloon, using more confetti, or
even using a different material inside the balloon.

Have you experimented with 4K Photography yet? I'd love to hear about what subjects you've captured.
I think a faster shutter speed and setting the manual focus a bit closer to you will do the trick!

Sounds Like Amazing, really Photos, thanks for your informative article, keep sharing..
ReplyDeleteI love this! What a fun way to test out 4K photography. The confetti was spot on.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, didn't expect it to be filled with confetti haha!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool!! Love the confetti effect :D
ReplyDeleteI think it will be very hard to get the crisp and detailed scene of an exploding balloon even with 25 frames per second. I’am looking forward to your another experiment :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips, Kosta. I guess I'm just not that "tech" when it comes to cameras. I need to brush up and keep experimenting.
ReplyDeleteFun isn't it. It kinda reminds me of your blog, be it the photos not as punchy!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job! My secret is VSCO. Those filters do wonders ;)
ReplyDeleteI love! Give me more, I love seeing pictures of these experiments. How about exploding flour? Too messy probably!

Thanks for the feedback Kat. Ah yes, that would be super messy! This was quite messy too.
ReplyDeleteYeah for sure, shame I couldn't catch it. I need to keep messing.
ReplyDeleteA fun deal, hey?
ReplyDeleteBoom!
