We've said it before and we'll say it again; it's a good feeling to escape the computer sometimes, get out from behind the desk, ignore the mountain of emails, and breathe a bit of fresh country air. We've had a few outdoors adventures over the past couple of years. More than I realised, until I sat down and counted them.
Wandering the Highlands of Scotland, foraging out in Epping, a day out in The Lakes, and a stay-over in the Forest of Dean - and let's not forget Glastonbury! Hey, turns out we're regular Huckleberry Finns over here.
Albam Hill Walker Waxed Jacket | Shine Vessel Co. Beer Growler | Smith Journal Vol.8 | Olivers Apparel All Over Shorts | Hunter Slider Sandals available at Outdoor & Country | Archival Grey Sweatshirt | Beavertown Gammar Ray APA | Backyard Brew Lawn Mower Larger | Cubitts Wynford Sunglasses | Wall's Mint Feast Ice Cream
The kit is pretty important out there in the 'wilderness' (we consider Vanessa as our inspiration). You need to be warm and dry, of course; but it doesn't have to be all waterproofed hiking gear. A nice rain coat from Albam over this classic grey sweatshirt by Archival, a pair of multi-purpose shorts, a decent pair of wellies or slides (for the lake we're hoping to find), some good reads and a 6-pack of beers. I'd probably bring along a small hip flask too, topped up with a decent
single malt. I tell you, we could get used to this outdoor lifestyle.
Really like the Hunter Sliders and the Jacket man! Hope Scotland was good, really want to drive up there and visit some places soon.
ReplyDeleteI love this, especially that you included Beavertown! That Gammar Ray stuff is delicious & I kept my empty can because it's just so damn cool. x
ReplyDeleteNice! My only thing would be to add some form of trouser if I was up in Scotland to avoid those pesky ticks.
ReplyDeletelove those sunglasses.
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect...venturing outdoors is always the best way to go! :)
ReplyDeleteSure is! I say, sat at my desk for the second day in a row. p.s. Thought of you guys while putting up this Instagram shot: https://instagram.com/p/6PIkJOKKjD. Not a ruin, but a very cool old school Scottish pub...
ReplyDeleteTell me about it! I didn't realise how bad the biting insects are in Scotland. I thought it would be too cold for them! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Out of season for sure. As soon as it's summer you can't move for midges and ticks though.
ReplyDeleteGammar Ray is great, they've started selling it in my local supermarket so I've been snapping it up. I keep all the cans too, so much detail in them.
ReplyDeleteNice flip flops!

ReplyDeleteIt sure is. That whole corner of Scotland is incredibly picturesque. @Matthew Pike probably has some better pics than me, which should be going up on the blog soon...
