Find Your Fast with Nike Zoom

We love trainers. That goes without saying. To say we know a lot about trainers though, would be a lie. Okay, Mat knows a lot about different brands, different styles, and even different shoe boxes, but neither of us are that up on the tech behind the trainers.

That's why any Nike running event is awesome - they fill the gaps in our knowledge, with every conceivable geeky fact we could ever need.

Take the new style Nike Zoom range. The single fly stitch uppers, the air cushioned sole, the wire system that holds the shoe firmly in place, the mid-sole designed to absorb the strike of the foot on the ground. The list goes on and on - so long, in fact, that I've forgotten a lot of it in only a couple of days.

I didn't just go to the latest Nike event to improve my sneaker geekery. Nike know how to host an event. Giant TVs, whizzing videos, trainers delivered by parachute, speedboat trips down the Thames. They wow you - and some!

Boring as it sounds, what I really wanted was another chance at a timed mile. At the last Nike running event, I managed a 5.58 mile - and with some new kicks not yet out on public release (the Nike Air Zoom Elite 8), the chance to break that was surely there. And break it I did. 5.50. A whole 8 seconds quicker! Wow. So pleased with that, even if I had to warm-up on public display in front of the Cutty Sark ship. The things we'll do for an experience, eh!

The Nike Zoom range is available here.

  10. Give them a go. These are the most comfortable running shoes I've had in a long while. Sleek and light too. Well worth it!
