I feel like it's time for me to look back over the past few months and see if we're still on the right path with Buckets + Spades. Where do we want to be in a year's time, are we still enjoying it, how can we continue to generate income without compromising our integrity? These are the types of questions myself + Nik will be discussing this week.
We have plenty of people visiting (and hopefully enjoying) our site, but how many of them are actually interested in all the content / subjects we share? Maybe we cover too many different subjects, and therefore is the casual reader only interested in say, one out of five posts? And, are we happy with those five posts? After all, Buckets & Spades - and all things connected to it; freelance writing, styling work and consultation jobs - is my full time job, a job that's constantly taking me interesting places and giving me the chance to work with inspiring people. But at the same time it's not as stable as I'd like it to be. This month is definitely a beans on toast month...
The Nectar Collective + Cocorrina have both been inspiring us this week, I'd recommend them to any blogger!
We'd really love your input on this, your opinions are the ones that matter. What subjects do you enjoy most on Buckets & Spades, do you like the variety or would you like to see a little more structure + regularity? Excited about hearing from you! If you'd like to hear more from us you can sign up for our Newsletter here.
Thanks for reading + much love,
Mat, Nik + Hollie.

To be honest, I visit your blog for the first time.
ReplyDeleteI just scrolled through the articles and read some of them.
In my opinion, it's great to have different subjects over here.
This way, it's always a surprise what the next post is about.
I really love the way you write.
Keep this up!

Different subject keep your blog interesting. And oh I personally love the fashion and design post :)

You guys cover a great range of things that are all quite interesting! I skip past the car posts but that's just my own lack of interest.
ReplyDeletePersonally I love the variety! My favourite posts are those about random art & design, like most recently the illustrated jars.

I enjoy your site as it is, I like the variety of the content. I enjoy the design/art related posts the most. The Nectar Collective and Cocorrina are two of my favorite sites as well!

I like the variety! I mean obviously not every post relates to me personally but they're still interesting to read.
ReplyDeleteI love the range of your posts, but I'd be really happy with more design inspiration and photos from your life beyond the job. When I first began following you, I believe it was because you'd share really awesome design inspiration from other graphic artists and I loved the more casual photos that gave me a look at your life. Overall, you guys are doing great with Buckets & Spades and I'm excited to see where you end up in the future. =]
ReplyDeletePersonally I like all of your posts but fashion, travel and design focused posts (like the craft beer one) are the ones I enjoy the most. I like the different content though and nothing ever feels jarring or out of place.

I really like the varied posts on here Matt. The design ones are amongst my favourite because so few bloggers actually write about things like that!

I really enjoy the majority of your posts - if I'm ever uninterested it's a one-off, not a reflection on something you post about on a regular basis. I like that it's a mix of things as there'll always be something new.
ReplyDeleteThe consistency for you is excellent perspective and insight on things, and excellent choice of what to share generally!
Personally, I love the diversity of content here. Men fashion, travel photos, modern design... A really cool mix, where the subjects are many, but compliment each other. :)
ReplyDeleteI am always interested in all subjects you posted but I enjoyed design/art and travel posts most of all!

I'm glad you found us, if you have time scroll through our archive. Great to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteThat's really helpful, thanks for your visits Albert.
ReplyDeleteThat's great to hear and super helpful. Thanks Dilion.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be sure to keep up with the art + design, sounds like that's the most popular theme.
ReplyDeleteThat's really helpful, Kat. I appreciate your visits and time so much.
ReplyDeleteKelly, thank you so much. I've enjoyed our chats we've had these past couple of years and i'm glad to hear you're interesting in it all. I think it works. Love your blog too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Winnie, I appreciate you letting me know. Interesting point, I guess that's the underlying theme across most posts. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis makes sense, and I think it works? I appreciate you taking the time to look too, it's not easy these days with so much going on.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Christine, that's great to hear. It seems the design / art related stuff is actually the most popular out of the lot.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we could ask for more thoughful feedback here, that's a massive help. It seems we're on the right track in terms of the content we mix up together, like you say, even if it's not all interesting to you.
ReplyDeleteOk great, sounds like we're still on the right track then Maria! Thanks for always coming to check in and see what we're up to. It means a lot to us.
ReplyDeleteYour posts are always super visual which is awesome - love the inspiration round-ups & any / everything sneaker-related!

This is very nice, thanks for sharing this information is fully insured to provide your belongings the extra cushion that they might need during theauto shipping and giving you the peace of mind that your valuable possessions are in good hands.
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you put down your words. The text helped me learn many new things No one can disagree with you what has to say about vehicle shipping including car shipping and various other auto shipping. I just wanted to know what type of auto transport would be best for me. Which type of car transport or vehicle transport should I opt for?
ReplyDeleteYour Point of view is quite plausible. You definitely have keen insight about auto shipping mainly car shipping and various other vehicle shipping. But I want to know about the pros and cons of auto transport mainly car transport and also the different forms of vehicle transport out there.
