Universal Works, London
No trip to London is complete without popping by to see my friends at Universal Works. I stayed at Tune Hotel, King's Cross again (as regular as Alan Partridge in the Travel Tavern) so I was only a 10 minute walk from Lamb's Conduit Street, and as I've been a fan of Universal Works for a while but never featured them in a Store Visit, I though the time was perfect.
The store itself is compact but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in character; as soon as you enter you're welcomed with a huge UW logo on the wall and ceiling, as well as original fireplace and alcoves. For anyone who is unfamiliar with the brand - they're a Nottingham based menswear label, who create some of the most creative, wearable and affordable utility work wear and casual clothing on the market. When I visited the store they looked as though they were just about the make room for new season pieces, which is currently filtering its way online. Alongside their own gear they also stock a few clothing and lifestyle pieces from selected brands - including Levi's and the very curious felted wool coasters by Graf + Lantz.
For anyone who's in the London area on Thursday 7th August, Universal Works are holding their first free gig at their Soho, Berwick Street store. If you'd like to attend click here for more details. Universal Works, 37 Lambs Conduit Street, London, WC1N 3NG.
This looks like a pretty cool store. I like the huge logo painted on the wall.
