Trying to find an affordable hotel in central London is a flipping nightmare. About a month ago I took to social media with the question, "where's good to stay in London for under £100 a night?" Some really decent suggestions came back, for instance AirBnB, but for various reasons nothing was quite right. I tend to opt for cheap and cheerful hotels like Travelodge but after a few pretty terrible visits and a big old price hike (we're talking £160 a night at Euston, come on!), I thought better of it.

If I'm honest I don't have high expectations when it comes to hotels, I just see them as a place to sleep and shower. I know I'll be out and about most of the time enjoying the city, so as long as clean, comfy and safe then that suits me. I was recommended Tune Hotels via Twitter by Jayne, £80 per night sounded pretty appealing! I'd never heard of Tune Hotels before but after a bit of research on Trip Advisor I decided it was well worth a shot.

I booked a room in Tune's King's Cross location, which was literally a 5 minutes walk from the station and a vast improvement to being stuck around Euston. The room I was given was on the 6th floor so it was nice and quiet, size wise it was compact but spot on for my two night stay. It passed the test in terms of cleanliness, comfort and safety with flying colours. The only issue I came across was with the size of the bathroom, personally it was a little too small for my 6'1" frame but I can forgive that as I wasn't in there that much!

One of the best things about the hotel was definitely the location. I try to avoid public transport as much as possible when I'm in the capital and when I got there I realised just around the corner from menswear mecca, Lamb's Conduit Street! For the times I did need to use the tube I knew I was never too far away from the rest of London, the joys of King's Cross Station.

For £80 per night, Tune Hotels was just the ticket. Breakfast isn't included in the price but it gave me the chance to explore the area for new places to eat. Tune Hotels is well worth considering if you're ever planning a visit to London.

Please note - I was offered a discount on my two night stay in exchange for a review, all views are 100% honest.
