Brighton is the perfect place for taking your time and making discoveries, finding hidden gems, small boutiques and new hangouts. While Hollie and I were working our way through The Lanes the other day we stumbled across such a place. Thread Menswear is brand new to the area, only being open for around 6 months. Situated in the heart of one of Brighton's busiest areas, Thread sits between independent bakeries, coffee shops and well established high street brands and labels.
Even though Thread have only been open a few months it hasn't stopped them taking on some really solid, well known brands as well some a few exciting new ones too. Their product selection is made up of extremely well priced, familiar names like John Smedley and Lavenham, sitting along side younger labels in Tuk Tuk, Native Youth and Franks Swimwear.
What stops Thread from falling into being just another menswear retailer is the fact that Store Director, Chris Scholes has been keen to experiment with brands which aren't as widely available. He's taken on Collective, La Paz (regretting not picking up the pink henley above Hollie was right!), one of my favs Makr Carry Goods, Sir Plus and is the only stockiest in Europe of Australian brand, Weathered. If you're ever in the area make sure you stop and have a nosey.
