Pinterest, where would I be without Pinterest? I'm pretty sure my computer would be running at snails pace with thousands of images clogging up my hard drive. As part of the Pin In Forward campaign today I'm sharing with you the expansion of the UK based platform, which works in exactly the same way as the current version but is more tailored to our shores. If you haven't used it before, Pinterest is a place you can collect and share inspiring things from around the net; storing them all on boards for each subject. Browse the live feed for interesting things to pin and collate for later.
I discovered Pinterest about 3 years ago when I was studying Fashion Promotion at uni, I started using it as a quick way to to store images and ideas for my projects instead of saving them to my laptop. It slowly turned into my online scrapbook, somewhere I could refer back to, dip in and print off stuff whenever I needed. Jump to the present and I'm still using it in pretty much the same way, mainly pinning things like Design Ideas, Travel, Food, Photography, Homeware and other little odds and sods.
Maybe I'm using it as type of escapism and fantasy. I'm never liking to go to some unreachable hillside in Outer Mongolia, bake a cake shaped like the Sydney Opera House or successfully master the crab pose but you never know when you might try! My most frequent pins are based around Style, Design and Products I Love (which is quite trainer heavy) but I also use to to search for recipes, workout/fitness tips and interiors.

Only 4 more weekends till our Orlando Holiday pt.2! We're getting there, it's just a shame the exchange rate is a bit pants right now. Happy weekend dudes.
Thanks for participating in Pin It Forward, Mat! It's great to hear that you've used Pinterest to discover ideas in so many different areas- design, travel, food and even homeware! I love the Bernhard Willhelm hiking shoe pin, amazing style product! Lauren, Community Coordinator
ReplyDeleteSeriously! Pinterest, CAN'T live without. I think I planned my whole life on there, and it's so fun browsing photos.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of the campaign, but it sounds fun :)
Love me some Pinterest. Doing a big social media strategy brief at the moment, Pinterest is the big player in it!

You couldnt find better words for what pinterest and tumblr are for me "escapism and fantasy." what a wonderfull little world we create ourselves on the internet.

Pinterest is something I've hovered on the edge of for a while. I never saw it as a way to store reference images before, but now that you have pointed out the obvious I will probably make the leap into using it full time! :0
ReplyDeleteoh yes i am totally following you now.

I think everyone uses Pinterest to escape. I love it too.
ReplyDeleteIt can be so practical too. I have a board 'cool gifts' and I am always referring back to it whenever it is coming up to someone's birthday or other event. It means you don't have to remember as much! :)
Nice choices here. I'm really digging that fixie. So clean, it looks fast!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of Pinterest, but it's just not for me. Sure I like to browse it. Of course I'll be checking yours out often but personally I like to have all my pictures saved to my computer. I decided to go this route when I would like stuff on tumblr and the original poster would delete the picture thus meaning the picture was gone for me too. Not sure if Pinterest works that way as well, but if I like something it's easy to drag it to my desktop or do a quick shift command 4 on mac to capture it. The files save relatively small so it's all fine by me.
Don't get me wrong, it does add up and takes up precious hard drive space. So recently I've been creating my own mood boards of pictures and saving it as one file i.e. my cinema grid posts.
Glad your trip is coming up soon. Are you using pounds or euros where you are? a 1.52 and 1.28 isn't to good you're right.
I love Pinterest! I've been using it even more this year, it is just a great place to store inspirations. I was wrong last year when I said I preferred Juxtapost to Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteI may have a slight pinterest addiction... Following you. :)
ReplyDeleteAddicted to pinterest at the moment, and your boards looks great
ReplyDeleteFollowing now!
