Got The Blues

Sounds spot on, but in reality I'm not so sure. Buying a bike has been quite stressful up to now. In stock, out of stock, poor customer service, misleading information, lack of funds, more important things crop up.......just give me the bike already! Hopefully within two weeks I'll be all set and cycling up a storm but this hasn't been the simplest task. Who knew it would be so hard to spend money?

I also thought it might be slightly more straight forward finding a job after uni but more than a year on I've yet to make much progress in terms of anything sustainable. I'm just going to have to start making things happen on my own. I need some cheering up guys, what's new?

  1. I should be able to give you expertise advice on bikes being Dutch, however, not to sure about the blues...perhaps some light-therapy or a budget holiday somewhere sunny with the girlfriend to look forward to? (& a cheaper 2ndhand bike instead to push down the costs?)

  2. I have a good friend here whose family is in the midlands, and his brother has been searching for work for quite some time too. Is the unemployment high there right now? Seems like you have had a few exciting things on the blog front lately, maybe they will lead to something. Wishing you luck!

Nothing much new here, school and life troubles seem to be never ending. However, on a more positive note, life keeps going, right? :]

My friend is having the same sort of problem with finding a bike. He has been looking on ebay and then at the last minute the price goes too high or the bike he finds is too far away etc.. but he's hoping to buy one that needs a bit of tlc so he can do it up - hopefully saving some dosh! You should try this if you can!

So many graduates I know are finding it hard, my friends are struggling to find work and we all will end up in a job that may not enjoy for a while so don't beat yourself up about it. Like I've said before you have a lot of qualities and the right job will come around for you soon enough.

You have the creative brain so use it to your advantage and think of a few projects - who knows where it may lead ay? Look out for any christmas fairs that may be cropping up soon to try and sell some work or promote your services. Your Etsy shop is a fantastic idea too, maybe have a gander around town on a day off and you may find some new interesting items to sell?

I'm a massive worrier myself but I find the more time you spend worrying the less aware you become to opportunities so chin up, slap on some alan partridge and have a ruddy good laugh!

Aw don't get disheartened dude, work will come along. It took me a long time working in a job I HATED with a tyrannical boss, I would have taken literally any other job, but then this one came my way and I'm still there 3 years later. These things work out =) promise!

By the way, I would KILL for an awesome vintage bike but I have never known a harder task. What gives? x

  5. My poor bike needs A LOT of TLC before I can start using it!
Re work... Maybe you need to extend your media/design/web activities to professional level? You're a smart guy, Mat - things will work out! X

  6. Gahh, I'm feeling a little like this too, hunting for design internships daily & never seeming to get any reply. Thinking of starting up my own online business, get the ball rolling! Hope it all turns out good for you too x

  7. The picture is lovely, would love have this up on my wall.

You have to have a perfect bike so take your time getting new one it will be worthwhile!

Finding for the job is never easy. Just keep going and do something exciting while looking so you won't get too tedious and exasperated. Maybe you could expand your Etsy with more vintage pieces and promote more. Your blog seems to have made headway and take advantage!

Virtual hugs for you here x

P.S. I am glad you're loving my photos!

  8. Good luck on te bike man. Don't rush it. You want to make sure you get one you love.

I've been a little out myself. I have my job at aa but it's just not going to well hours wise. My brother and I finally got a place and i've come to see that it's a bit hard out being on your own. I don;t sweat on it though. Everything should work out without a doubt.
What did you study at school?
What're you going to try and do on your own?

  9. Hi Matt,I think the bike is a metaphor for you being on the brink of a new and exciting journey.Everything happens for a reason perhaps your lack of oppotuntity is more about the fact you are destinated to be a entrepeneur?I for one am really impressed by your blog design and branding, as someone with very little digital creative skills which frustates me so much,as I was bumbling along recently on blogger I was one of those bloggers who unwittingly deleted 80 percent of my images from years worth of my posts, I spent the whole evening in tears, but then considered that perhaps it was a concrete sign that I needed to find the means to redesign my blog.Much of why we feel stuck is often because we compare our set of circumstances to others, which is only natural, framing your situaton differently can help with that affliction. I often think about those first American pioneers that moved to New York with nothing from all over the globe and used sheer tenacity to set up shop, it helps. As I'm researching blog redesign at the moment, perhaps you could fill me in more on your skills in that area? My email is under the About Me section of my blog. Sharon xx

  11. Yeah, I wish life was like that poster. I saw a poster somewhere that said, "all you need is less" and I thought it was really cool. Good luck finding the right bike and job!

  13. Lovely positive comments you have had here Matt. Nice quote on the poster. another similar saying is "less is more". And you are so right the making it happen has to come from you - it has to start with you. Good Luck and in the words of Nike - just do it. Xxxx
