Wearing - Vintage French work jacket, Carhartt sweatshirt, Aubin & Wills t-shirt, Levi's Commuter 511 trousers c/o Urban Outfitters, Clarks Desert Trek, Herschel backpack, M&S scarf, Uniqlo socks, red bandana
If you're around the North of England this week you'll know that the Autumn snap has arrived, which is fine by me. I can start to layer up good and proper, t-shirts, shirts, jumpers, cardigans, jackets...you name it, I'm on it. I picked up these Levi's Commuter trousers from the recent UO A/W press day and I've hardly had them off ever since. They're part of the Commuter range which has been designed with cyclists in mind; made in water resistant fabric, reflective hem detail and these neat pockets (above) with elastic for extra room and comfort. There a whole bunch of other features but it would take ages to list them all and would bore most people, you're basically getting a lot of bang for your buck.
So with 2 pairs of water repellent trousers in total I'm nearly all set for the grim northern weather. Believe me, it's as bad as they say, I got soaked on three separate occasions the other day, each time not fully drying out. To not carry a brolly is a death wish. I'm looking at getting a new bike (this one by Create is a contender) very soon, so I just need a waterproof jacket next and I'm good to go.
With years of experience I'm still rubbish keeping warm and dry in the cooler seasons. Have you guys got any tips for commuters, or any other wet weather tips?

Great layering. Love it! especially your socks :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so much not a cold weather person although I've been living in cold places for the last 12 years haha Still hoping to move south at some point. If you gather good tips you should make a post with them! :-)
great outfit

Whoa whoa whoa. YOUR BLOG LOOKS AWESOME. This is the first time I've been here since you redesigned it. It looks awesome Mat. Massive congratulations on all the changes. xx
ReplyDeleteI love the blue jacket, great!
ReplyDeleteAs if there is a Levi's Commuter range! Ingenious. Great layering. I am also happy that I get to layer up. Sounds lame as, but thermals are my best friend come snow storms and what else British winter throws at us. x
ReplyDeleteMad layering skillz.
ReplyDeleteI'm 100% with you mate, love layering up! Obvs, a good brolly is key, if it's an accessory you need you might as well make the most of it too. My Liam's got a proper grandad one which you push a button and it shoots out (wow), and I saw a gorgeous one with foxes on yesterday in M&S ♥ Claire @ Jazzpad
ReplyDeleteI fancy the blue jacket. you making looking put together seem effortless. I think I put way too much thought into my clothes.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice, Mat. I heard about the bad weather... apart from wearing a wet suit I haven't got a solution for keeping dry.
ReplyDeleteHhaha i love autumn/spring for the same reasons. Layering <3
ReplyDeleteFab autumny layers: ready to get soaked in Northen weather :-)
ReplyDeleteThe times when I choose not to take an umbrella have been the times I usually get soaked. Jeans are the worst. Urghhh I can still sense that unpleasant soggy sock feeling.. *shudders*
ReplyDeleteYou look great. I very much like the work jacket - that blue is so vibrant. Big up to the yellow socks too!
Oh and I need some tips on keeping warm too. I get really cold hands, to the point where they start to change colour and become numb. I have however spied some fetching 'hand hot water bottles' knockin about some stores! That's right!
ReplyDeleteProbably not the same kind of wet weather up North but coming from a monsoon country your best bet in keeping dry aside from an umbrella would be a good waterproof anorak with a hood and shoes that keep out water, like LL bean boots.
ReplyDeleteI really like the blue jacket, thats a great color!
ReplyDeletelookin' sharp! it's getting cold here in LA (if you can believe that) and I have no clue how to dress for the weather without looking like a librarian.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely thinking about picking up a pair of those commuter pants. I really like the U lock holster on them. pretty handy. I'll probably end up wearing them everyday it's raining or snowing here. Just sucks that I'll have to switch out of them once i get to wrok.
ReplyDeleteNice to see a full outfit shot on here man. I'd really like to see more!
The bike looks pretty good. I'm digging it. Check out state bicycles and se bicycles. State is fixed gear only with the flip flop hub to single speed. Se's have a fixed gear line that as well have the flip flop hub. I personally have an se (lager) and I love it. Definitely consider both those brands if you can!
I recently got my license and i passed the test. wasn't to hard or anything. A lot of people here still drive manual cars if that's what you mean. I personally do not know how and I love driving an automatic. So much more of a breeze.
I love that jacket.
ReplyDeleteLove so much your blog, nothing to say. I follow u
