Tick Tock's Rooibos tea goodness
Straight outta Manchester, Mr Scruff's Make us a Brew
Teapigs Jasmine Pearls c/o Togs & Clogs
I don't know what's happened to me, 6 months ago if someone offered me a cup of tea I would have said "no thank you sir" but somehow I've become pretty obsessed with the stuff. I maxing out at about 6 cups a day at the moment, too much perhaps. I most definitely used to be a coffee guy but I don't know, I've got a bit bored of the same thing every day, tea seems to much more refreshing. So I've been trying a few different types out over the past few months, I started off with Twinings peppermint and swiftly moved on to a few more interesting blends.
- By far my favourite is Tick Tock's Rooibos tea, which was a recommendation from Daisy of the aptly named Pretty Green Tea. I've seen the packaging tonnes of times when I've been in the supermarket as it's pretty striking, now that I've found out it tastes awesome too.
- Next up is Mr Scruff's Make us a Brew mint & chili tea, which is coming at us straight from Manchester. Sweet, fun packaging with a cracking cartoon and humours text. Love this one, really refreshing if that floats ye boat.
- Finally is Teapig's Jasmine Pearls, which the chaps from Togs & Clogs sent over a few months back. This was the one that got me right into it, super flavoursome and has quite a kick to it. Great if you're not in a rush. Again really nice packaging and comes in triangular shaped bags.
I'm not swearing off coffee altogether but lets just say I'm branching out. I would really like to hear what you guys drink and if you have any recommendations they would be more than welcome.
Your tea choices are much more exciting than mine I must say. I'm a skimmed milk, no sugar sort of gal when it comes to tea. I don't drink coffee because it gives me the worst headaches.
ReplyDeleteI must knock back about 4-5 cups of tea a day though. Especially when I'm doing work, tea is just needed to keep me going. I like green tea from time to time too, I find it helps my skin when it's broken out.
The Togs & Clogs sounds good. I love jasmine tea.
ReplyDeleteDo you have the brand Celestial Seasonings over there? They make a really good Vanilla Rooibos. I drink it every nite.
Having South African blood in my veins, I grew up with rooibos, its the perfect night time tea. Glad you like it too!
ReplyDelete♥TEA
ohh, the mint and chilli tea sounds really interesting! love the packaging, too. x
ReplyDeleteMint and chilli tea? I'm intrigued. I usually stick to Earl Grey and green tea varieties, although some of my favourite 'branching out' blends have included toffee (which for some reason reminded me of coffee) and strawberry (best served cold as a summer treat).
ReplyDeleteI've had teapigs before and loved it. Before I read your words, I was gonna say you've gotta be patient and leave it brew for a while... but you know that!
ReplyDeleteI want to try the mint and chilli!
I'm always really fascinated by the designs tea company come up with... especially non-black tea ones. For me it's coffee in the morning and then tea, tea, tea - but no roibush or herbal - that's only for times when I feel ill.
ReplyDeletei'm more of a coffee guy. i tried drinking tea before for all the good effects to the body they say it gives but it's a taste to acquire for me. but i am equally amazed by the stories, culture, and practices behind both tea and coffee.

Ah, as always, Mat, I came here to say 'thanks for stopping by - I was thinking of you' and once again you have a post that had me at hello.
ReplyDeleteI am a confirmed coffee junkie - and each visit with friends in Italy has only served to increase my tolerance for the stuff (my closest friends are known to consume espresso - black - from morning til late at night, and are as chilled in nature as you could ever find a pair of human beings, and still be alive). But I love tea, too.
My husband and I drink PG tips - gallons of the stuff - but a very English, very Bertie Wooster friend named Angus introduced me to Tick Tock's Rooisbos - literally introduced me, by taking the box out and holding it and doing a whole little promotional skit on the stuff, then making me a cup. It's a wonderfully compelling, acquired taste, that I immediately acquired. And of course - I know you'll relate - the graphic designer in me - it had me at hello.
I'll have to try mint and chili - that sounds somehow cool and warm at the same time.
Can I suggest my best natural remedy for nipping everything - colds, flus, sore throats - in the bud? I got it via my brother, (a musician) from his co-musician colleague Dave Gilmour's first wife, aptly named Ginger. You slice raw ginger root, steep it in boiling water, then add fresh lemon and honey. Great hot, great cold. Mint leaves work well with it, too.
And this past weekend at my friend Pia's house we drank SAGE LEAVES in boiling water. That's it. Sage tea. It's simple, and amazing. Simply amazing. I felt very wise after drinking it.
Got a post coming up on men's shoes: I'll let you know when it's up. Best to you and Holly from down in London!
Oh I love tea! My favourite is celestial seasonings sleepytime, which I get in Sainsburys (or from iherb.com) or else I drink a lot of peppermint and fennel...
ReplyDeletebut tea, any tea is good (even nettle!)
Bit of a long shot, but if you're ever in Liverpool you'll have to go to a place (café/bar/restaurant hybrid) called Leaf on Bold Street. It sells the widest variety of teas I've ever come across. I'm rather partial to a turkish apple, although they have some champagne(!!) ones too. I generally have Twining's English Breakfast, but I like peppermint when I fancy something with less caffeine.
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased you enjoy rooibos tea :) ...! I have been meaing to try - Mr Scruff's tea for quite some time but never got round to it when I was in Manchester. I think the flavour you picked sounds really nice so I am going to have to try to get my hands on some!
ReplyDeleteDude be careful on the cups a day, I got really bad caffeine headaches like that. I'm the same, going through phases from tea to coffee & back. When it's strong it's definitely as good. In our house we only have tea bags for guests and drink loose leaf (that sounds so wanky... oh well) from this strainer by attic (http://www.attictea.com/). You can get herby stuff but good old Yorkshire Gold Leaf or whatever comes loose leaf. Seriously, so good.
ReplyDeleteYUM. I love tea. I think it is probably my life blood. Not that I'm anti-coffee but it is more of an occasional pleasure. On top of x gallons a day of builders tea I really like lemon & ginger. The Twinings one is bad, the Tea Pigs one is good, Attic does a truly excellent one. Ooh, and Jing tea's blackcurrant & hibiscus. And Waitrose have a lovely new redbush & vanilla that smells like custard. And a smoky lapsang suchong or a fragrant earl grey... SO many choices. I've never actually had the Tick Tock redbush before so maybe that should go on my list next. x
ReplyDeleteVine para quedarme sin duda, que blog tan interesante, me encanta...
ReplyDeleteUn besito!
