An Analog Christmas

I was doing some Christmas shopping with Hollie in Manchester yesterday and we were both surprised and quite excited to discover that a Lomography shop has opened on Oldam St. We popped in for a browse and it instantly took us back to our college days and when we first met, all those years ago. It was a lovely feeling just to wonder about, looking at all the advances, since I'd last been into the shop just off Caraby St. The shop itself is really well thought out and just puts you in a good mood, as you won't find anything boring insight. What I did notice was that they used negative space really well, when you lift a camera from its holder you are left with a blurb about the item in its place. Neat idea.

The store is so new that you can still smell the paint. Above is the wicked Christmas window display which they said took them ages to get just right. This has definitely spurred me on to whip my old analog out this Christmas.

Have you entered my Hackett giveaway yet? You still have a day left.

The display looks wonderful, a nice modern play on the tradional bog standard tree. It definitely would have made me want to have a nose round.

The idea of the negative space sounds really cool also.

I don't think I commented on your previous post but what Penique Productions have done looks awesome. I like how they could put the inflatable sheet in a run down building and a really swanky pad, and they'd still share the same sort of atmosphere, as it'll be all one colour. Nice.

  2. I love that the information is under the items ! I used to have a great analog camera and the lens was kinda warped and I always got good shots but the back kept popping open and ruining my films and I haven't got round to fixing it yet. Maybe that can be my christmas present this year ! Inspired xo

  7. I love how Lomography really promotes film photography, it just shows that old technology isn't necessarily outmoded. And the window display is perfect! Love the use of mint green instead of the typical brighter shade.

I use terracotta clay, although I'm gonna change it for a clay with more grit so it's less fragile next semester. Yeah my lecturer was telling me he hasn't seen anyone make work like mine for some years, I just like how weird they turn out, everyone has been different so it's a suprise to see them develop.

I'm thinking of making some potato stamped paper next year, it looks awesome. You must show your wrapping paper skillz! I'm intrigued! now!
