Outfit - Vintage army jacket, Topman shirt, Junk de Lux chinos, Puma trainer gifted by Zalando, Ray Ban sunglasses
My search for some new trainers has finally come to an end. The post I did last week on my trusty New Balance ended up being quite interesting as a few people, (Claire from Jazzpad being one) hadn't pegged me down as a trainer person. Truth be told I certainly am but just don't happen to own many. The problem is I'm mega picky and as trainers in the majority cost more than "sneakers" this makes my brain work overtime and consider my actions more. Currently I own a couple of pairs of Converse, Vans and Superga so when Zalando approached me a couple of weeks ago asking if I would like a gift voucher to spend on a pair of trainers of my choice I damn nearly spilt my bowl of Shreddies.
So after uming and ahhing over all the brands they stock (which took some time I tell you, they carry around 600 footwear brands!) I narrowed it down to a handful. My criteria was something sporty-ish and colourful. I looked into Asics, New Balance, Adidas and Nike but I kept thinking I need to go for something a bit more unexpected, why not push the boat out a bit. So I ended up punting for this pair of Puma "Suede" in purple and gum. Originally designed for basketball these Puma's were massive on the streets in the 1980s/90s. They ticked all the boxes and I reckon I can wear them in a less sporty way, which does it for me.
As my feet were looking pretty 90s I thought I'd try them out with my new army jacket, which I picked up in a vintage shop for £12. Camo was pretty hip in the 90s so I'm sort of going for a Simon Pegg circa Spaced jacket and trainer combination. I'm quite pleased with the look actually, what do you think, does it work?
Thanks to the nice people at Zalando for gifting me these, even better that I actually got to pick. As I said they stock a whole bunch of brands like Clarks, Tommy Hilfiger, Vans and Dr.Martens to name a few and offer free delivery and returns on everything.
I wasn't in any way pushed into writing this post, I was gifted the voucher and the rest was up to me.
Also...I'm listed a bunch of stuff on Ebay, take a browse and help me pay for a holiday post-graduation!
Looking good. These are great trainers, love the colour combo's going on here. Xxxx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely like those, pretty sharp.
ReplyDeleteI like these! I didn't know they are called suedes.. that's why I said yes when you asked if I bought Bryan suede Pumas. lol. They are suede.. just not "suedes" That's awesome that they gave you a voucher!
ReplyDeleteI liked the purple ones but these are also very enjoyable to look at! Bonus on the voucher too.
ReplyDeleteThese Puma's are awesome!! Love the one color!!

They are so lovely! I had this pair of black suede pumas that I wore for about intermittently for about 4 years. Great colour though! & loving the spaced reference...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the voucher, you made a wise choice! Those a pretty damn snazzy, you're right about being able to wear them in a non-sporty kind of way, pairing them with tailored trousers. I reckin they'll look great with shorts and jeans also! Hit the nail on the head with the spaced reference too.
ReplyDeleteCheers for the comment too, I found it really comforting. A friend at work is always telling me to stop over thinking the future as it'll 'just happen' but the thought of relying on fate is pretty daunting.
I <3 Pumas - great choice!
ReplyDeleteNice shoes!

ReplyDeleteI didn't really think of you as a trainers person either! Interesting - and I really do like it as well. Congrats on being finished - wouldn't know what to do if I had to leave and head into the real world now, I'm doing a palaeontology masters!
ReplyDeletethose pumas are AWESOME. love love the color.
ReplyDeleteFantastic pumps !!
ReplyDeleteReally nice! You can never have enough trainers (my parents SO wouldn't agree with that!). Love your jacket too. I'm waiting for some company to send me presents! Pass on the good word lol!

:D Very Simon/Tim. Love the rich colour of the shoes and the camo was a great find.
ReplyDeleteAah a mention! (and I should add that though I've been following you for aaaaages on bloglovin, I've bumped up your google count). I think subverting what is expected of trainers is cool. These are a lovely colour and wearing them unexpectedly with chinos or something is a nice touch ♥ Claire @ Jazzpad
ReplyDeleteLove the shoe color and they go so well with the military jacket. Great color mix, Love it!

Really cool trainers and great combo! Loving the whole retro vibe. There's an adidas original store in Berlin where I bought some 'old-fashioned' teal trainers which I love.
ReplyDeleteI love these, of course. That colour!

hahahaha, you know they say great minds think alike?! I have just got an army jacket and am 'doing the 90s' at the moment. I've gone for lady Vans over pumas though (I had those same ones at Uni in grey)and I've got what i'm calling my 'grunge hat' from Topman, green wool beanie I'm pretty obsessed with. I'm a bit old for all that, given that I was there the first time round, but I don't care!
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice! Love love love these.
ReplyDeleteGreat trainers, love the colour.
ReplyDeleteA really stonking choice mat! Working with shoes for so long may have turned me into abit of a trainer snob (Actually, i think girls are very hard on guys' sartorial choice. We must want to mould our men) I love pumas more retro styles and this one gets a a huge thumbs up ;)
ReplyDeleteLooking sharp... I think the colour is awesome, great find!
