Matching books to your bedsheets is very "now". The Oscar Wilde quote sets the book up nicely.
The importance of menswear in womenswear.
Counter-culture dressing, social trends and tribes and their uniformity.
American Tailoring and dressing for success.
This made memories of my mum doing my tie before school, I hated it but now it's the opposite.
Street style and photography culture
Wise words there Honor
I received a tweet a couple of days ago that I piece I wrote for one of my tutors at uni had actually been published. In fact it was Clare of Tweet who sent me a picture message of the 2-page spread while she was at Graduate Fashion week, the book is on display there. So myself and Clare are now officially both published authors! I haven't been able to get my hands on the book as yet but the publisher Ava contacted me and said that while I was waiting for a copy they would wizz over a copy of the latest edition of the "Basics" series. More specifically Fashion Design 07: Menswear.
The book is a nicely put together A-Z of menswear, its influences on modern culture and how we portray ourselves today. A lot of the subjects covered may seem obviously but to a newcomer to fashion it would be great place to start, to swat up on styles, trends and designers. For the more advanced it acts as a further insight into influential icons, people behind the brands and menswear DOs and DON'Ts. As well as that there are interviews with contemporary brands such as Heritage Research and denim expert Philip Goss. I haven't properly read it all yet but it's a nice coffee table book, with some really cool images to flick through.
I'm pretty excited that I something I have written has been published and as soon as I get hold of a copy I'll be sure to show you all.
Ah!! Well done!

ReplyDeleteTo answer your recent comment, the tunnel is at Waterloo, go to the Lower Marsh, which is a must-see and 5mins walk away. Reside at Camel and Artichoke pub to fill yourself with their delicious food, the burger is the best! When you're sastified and ready to go, turn left as you exit the pub and continue walking along the Lower Marsh for few mins. The tunnel is just there on your right. It is right under the railway bridge.
You will definitely love it.

Aww cool that looks like a really fab book, I think a lot of people forget that T -shirts and things were only worn under clothing and the likes of James Dean made it outer wear. Men's fashion has had a huge impact on women's, it sad that people don't realise that. Anyway hope your well, and you had a great weekend x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Looking forward to seeing it.
