Just a short post today as I'm dead busy with uni stuff. I wanted to share Beth Hoeckel's dgital collage work with you, for me it's the perfect mix of nostalgic and modern. I see a lot of collage stuff, mostly work with is clearly inspired by Dada and such which is pretty standard but Hoeckel's work seems to have another quality. They sort of remind me of 50s postcards.
I might give some of these a go for my final campaign magazine I'm designing. We will see.
All images from Beth Hoeckel
If you haven't entered the Gene Meyer sock comp there's still plenty of time.

I love the gritty feel that they all have!
ReplyDeleteThese are really great mat, like an apocalyptic hitchcock film. Just my thing ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are great! If Hitchcock did postcards I bet they'd look a little something like that.
ReplyDeletethe first photo is sooo cool. i've seen collage work in our school gallery before and it's interesting how the artist chooses the photos he uses.

Ooh, gorgeous - definitely feeling the 50s postcard vibe. Also getting a kind of 50s nuclear panic feel from 'em too... like a few people above have said, very Hitchcock! x
ReplyDeleteHah definitely getting the Hitchcock vibe too, that second to last one is like a re-imagining of The Birds. I do love the look of that last one as well. Hope uni stuff is going well.
ReplyDeletethose are very simply cool. I love them.
ReplyDeletevintage with a slightly sci-fi twist, if that in any way makes sense

After seeing these i went and looked at all of her work and am so impressed! She blends the ordinary with the extraordinary so well and makes you think there is something greater than what the eye can see, if that makes sense? It's late and i'm blabbing on your blog- not cool.
ReplyDeleteshort of it is- great blog, post more of these please as i'm now following.
