Penfield S/S 2011 Lookbook
I'm really naff at dressing for summer, for a start I hate leaving the house with a t-shirt and jeans on. I need the layers, even if it's a thin jumper/cardigan, anything will do. It's a combination of worrying that I look boring and a self-conscious thing I reckon. I'm going to try and push myself to be comfortable this summer, first on the list is some shorts in green and dark red. The Penfield S/S lookbook is a perfect reference for me I think.
I've never really thought about wearing lighter jackets with shorts as it goes against the rules I usually go by. I hate it when you see someone with a hoody and shorts on, if it's cold enough for you to put one on then it's not warm enough for shorts? Same goes for anything involving a vest, it's a mega no-go. Anyway, I'm really liking the lightweight jacket/shirt/shorts combo, without veering into the pastel territory. Let's hope this summer I can enjoy my clothes for once.
How do you deal with summer dressing? What sort of things do you go for and like on other people?

those are some of the coolest look book photos i've seen in awhile!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I can't WAIT for Summer. A perfect Summer look for me involves a vest, lightweight blazer, tailored shorts and - depending on the temperature - either boots or boat shoes.
ReplyDeleteC.
these clothes are lush! sometimes i wish i am a guy!
ReplyDeletemy summer attires would b flowy dresses (i owe a million) teamed with wedges or sandals or even my sturdy coral birkenstocks. ahhh i want summer to come naaow!
I like! I'm the same way about summer clothes. I'm more comfortable in layers. It gets so hot here though (usually over 100ºF for a month or two) that layers are so out of question.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME pics !! Makes me want summer here right NOW !! :P
ReplyDeleteI love the red jacket/shorts combo. & I am with you on the hoodies & shorts thing, girls do it too, with the shortest shorts I've ever seen & then a hoody over it. It makes no sense to me.
ReplyDeleteFor me it is a temperature thing. My legs get cold easily, so I'm usually sporting cotton pants with a tank or something like that...but I always layer up. It is so freezing indoors when the sun is shining. I have to be prepared. Fall is the easiest season to dress for...in my opinion. Summer is a bit tricky!
ReplyDeleteLove the looks you posted though!!
Just found your blog, love it! Such cool lookbook photo's. I wish boys my age dressed like him! X

totally know what you mean about layering. It is getting warmer here too, and i have nooo idea how i am going to be able to keep layering!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing!
ReplyDeleteLooking at my pale limbs today I thought there is something to be said for weather that calls for covering up...
ReplyDeletei'm really going to try to evoke this style this summer. it feels so fresh.

I love that last photograph - not at all something I could wear, but I really like it. I'm rubbish at summer - it's usually skinny jeans, sheer longsleeve and a light oversize knit.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I tend to get overly conscious during summer when I can't wear a comfortable amount of layers. But then things get way too hot and I get lazy and bored. So short shorts, a loose tee and light cardigan is my usual summer uniform. And a hat.
ReplyDeletethese are so beautiful, thansk for sharing.

I'm rubbish at summer too...I'm either too hot or too cold & can't quite seem to get it right! I totally agree about the hoody/shorts thing too haha. There are some nice lightweight jackets in the mens bit of Urban Outfitters...my boy got a quilted jacket there today which I might try & steal once in a while :)
ReplyDeleteHaving spent most of my life in a far warmer climate, I find that I can manage sweaters and layers more readily than most even in the summer. Not really going to bother with colour either besides burgundy and possibly navy...
