Sunday: 2 Pictures

The Pleasure Beach at 11:14pm
Power Plant near Nottingham

I only took two decent photos last week as I didn't really have much spare time. It's quite weird that you don't really take much notice of things on your door step. I have lived at the seaside all my life and been to the Pleasure Beach tones of times but the place is so damn interesting, especially at night time. Plus it brings so much money into my home town, the area is on the rise. The whole seafront has been regenerated and now I hear that contractors are planning on restoring the Victoria entertainment theatre, the Winter Gardens.

The other image is cold and ugly but I can't help like harsh buildings and architecture, do you know what I mean? I took that when I was on a uni trip to see the Trend Briefing by The Future Laboratory, which was amazing. We were presented with new and emerging social/media/technology trends and happenings for the next 10 years, it was pretty epic.

C.W Stoneking - Perfect Afternoon In Paradise

I discovered C.W Stoneking on Later with Jools Holland about a month ago and since then I have been hooked. This sort of thing might usually pass you by but I urge you to have a listen. I can only describe his music as charming, witty, storytelling and beautiful. His voice is as gravley as anything and his songs really do make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up(there isn't many other bands that manage this).

His album Jungle Blues is a perfect bluesy, old American ditty. Just imagine someone from"of Mice and Men" pulling out a guitar and telling their tales, mixed with a whiskey and perfect afternoon in paradise and you will come close to sound.

If doesn't sound like your sort of thing, give it a listen anyways and see what you think;

Saddle Shoes

Super close up shots of the leather, suede and orange sole combo.
I mentioned that I picked up some saddle shoes on Twitter about a month ago now and since uni has kicked right off I haven't really had time to think about what looks good on my feet. I've been grabbing for my Vans or Converse at any opportunity.

I took a bit of a break from my current project and decided to take a few snaps of these YMC Saddle shoes that I got in the sale(I am yet to wear them!). Saddle shoes were standard in the 50s but none wears them these days, no the heck not?  had to get them for the simple reason that when a shoe like this comes along you can't say no. Mens shoes don't work like buses, they don't all come at once, it's more like a strike day, not at all.

Here's how I'm planning on wearing them;
Navy pea coat, blue Velour shirt, beige Gap chinos, tartan M&S scarf, orange Uniqlo socks, YMC saddle shoes.

I didn't think I'd ever be matching my socks with the soles, that's new to me. The pea coat is also another new purchase, by a brand called Method via TKmaxx clearance. What do you think about the way I'm displaying the outfit? I quite like it actually, simple ideas are the best!

Thanks for all your feedback on the last post, all your comments will be going straight into my sketchbook.

Barbershop Photoshoot

Here's a few unedited pictures from a recently photo shoot at a barber shop, for a uni project. We took over 400 images on the day so it was a tough task picking out our favourites. The about ones are a few that I am really happy with. The theme of the shoot was. The aim behind the project was to promote a local business(in Preston, where I go to uni) and display 4 images at an exhibition in January.

Which is your favourite, if any? Any feedback is really welcome as it could help with my final research sketchbook.

Styling by myself(and 3 others in my group), photographs by Dave Schofield

In other news I was recently featured in an article, "Stylish Men on Twitter". The article is very complimentary and I have no idea why the chose me. Give it a read if you have a mo.

Go For It Ringo

Wearing - Blue Gap jacket, Ralph Lauren check shirt, beige Gap chinos, beige Converse.

The idea of this post was meant to just be close ups but I didn't get enough of me so I have thrown in a full lengther. I do cringe a bit when I upload a picture of myself but sometimes it's nice to put a face to a blog hey. I've pretty pleased with my latest purchases in Gap(the jacket was in the sale), it's one of the only shops on the high street that I can get trousers/jeans to fit me. I'm like Goldilocks when it comes to trousers, not too tight/not too baggy, just right!

Hollie has finally pulled out her "car coat" from Topshop. Every girl needs one right? All these pics were taken in a little village next to where we live called Lytham, it's quite a post place so all the charity shops are packed with old designer gear.

Oh and, Ringo WAS a good drummer, he may have had a weird style but I like it.

Uni is getting really heavy but I will always try and comment back as soon as possible.

watch
(Finally, I have managed to upload an image to blogger. I had to use photobucket though)

I've been meaning the post a picture of my new watch for a week or too now, but let's just say uni has kicked off and I'm struggling for time, so posts from now on might be more brief that usually.

I have wanted this watch from Muji for around 2 years now and I finally ordered it on my birthday last month. For me, the design is perfectly simple and perfectly good! What really attracted me was the square frame along with the brilliant white face and cheeky orange hands. I've been getting a lot of compliments on it too. It was a steal for £29.50.

Does anyone else seem to have a lot of watches? I have around 8/9 now, which is your favourite?

What's Going On?

For some weird reason I can't seem to upload any images, what's happening? Is anyone else having troubles? This is my super good reason why there has been a lack of updates this week, back to normal when, well.....my blogger is back to normal.

Oh man, there's a chilly snap in the air, but now I can finally wear scarfs again! Bring it on.

Tabio Spots

Wearing - Tabio spotty socks, Topman navy trousers

How this is the first time I have worn these socks is a total mystery. I've had these red Tabio socks for a few months now and they made their first outing at work today. I think they look pretty nice against Hollie's grey carpet. They are going to look ever better with some snazzy brogues.

Nice weekend everyone, what's happening?

Barbershop Teaser

The team on location
First time on a Harley Davidson. Come on, I had to.

Technically this doesn't really give much of the Barbershop photo shoot I mentioned in my last post but these are some teasers on what was going on. We managed to blag a Harley Davidson for a couple of hours so we decided to start with some shots in an ally next to the barbers. We did then move on to more traditional shots in the actual barbershop.

I will post some proper photos soon but they need to be selected and handed in before I do that. But yeah, I felt pretty cool on the bike! Sadly I really don't look cool, I am much more suited to a push bike.

In other news it would be amazing of you all if you could all do me a favour. I have entered a Paul Smith competition, all you need to do to help me win is follow this link and "Like" Paul Smith's fan page on Facebook, then follow this link to my image and "Like" it once again. Please please please. I want to win!

The Barber Shop Project

Been a little short on the old blog posts this week, I have been busy preparing for a photo shoot with the theme of an "All American 1950s Barbershop". Here is a few images I have used for inspiration within my research, when looking at possible shots/styling/set design.

Everything seemed to go well, I will post a few pics of the final shoot when they have all been edited. We ever managed to blag a Harley Davidson!
