watch
(Finally, I have managed to upload an image to blogger. I had to use photobucket though)

I've been meaning the post a picture of my new watch for a week or too now, but let's just say uni has kicked off and I'm struggling for time, so posts from now on might be more brief that usually.

I have wanted this watch from Muji for around 2 years now and I finally ordered it on my birthday last month. For me, the design is perfectly simple and perfectly good! What really attracted me was the square frame along with the brilliant white face and cheeky orange hands. I've been getting a lot of compliments on it too. It was a steal for £29.50.

Does anyone else seem to have a lot of watches? I have around 8/9 now, which is your favourite?

  2. I love simple, clean watches. This one is perfect.

  3. That is a great watch. I'm not sure if it's because you photographed it on some comics, but there's something very 60s-pop art- Roy Lichtenstein about it.

  4. I never wore a watch and when everyone started having a mobile (i.e. a time-teller) I felt even less of a need... But yours is very chic indeed.

  5. I usually upload all my pictures on photobucket as well, and then use the html code to add them to my post - I find it easier to have a place where all my photos are collected (and organised with tags) instead of having to browse through my blog if I'm in need of a particular photo.

Anywayyy, love the watch. I tend to lean towards more vintage-y designs but the combination of bright orange hands with the minimalistic black and white frame works wonderfully here.

  6. Funny you should post that (and I LOVE that watch btw!) - I just finally went to the great watch repair guy who lives in a small booth the size of a phone booth, inside Picadilly station. He has such attitude but he's the best watch repairman, charges hardly anything and sometimes nothing, and there's always a queue. He fixed my one favourite watch. I don't have many, but when my two favourite ones break, I have a wonderful plain silver Timex wind up that never lets me down.

Thanks for your comment. I checked and sure enough: no camel for boys! How reverse sexist is that. If girls can wear the boys stuff I don't see why it can't be reversed, there's probably a good camel women's blazer you could get away with.

You inspired me to do a post on watches actually. I've been kind of watch obsessed lately because mine broke.

  11. I love watches and am I collector myself. I have have about 20 or so and my favorite is my black Chanel. It's heavy and durable and one of my favorite accessories. I'm really liking the squareness and the round face contrast of this Muji. Will have to check 'em out. Very snappy.

  13. wow that is a nice one, my boyfriend has a watch addiction. I have some but stopped wearing them as I got sick of people asking me the time, at work on the bus. Like ALL the time, my mate called me time bandit not good :P so now I don't wear one, the irony is people still ask me. I am tempted to just draw one on :P

  21. Muji is just so lovely. I wish I was organized (& um...rich) enough to live in Muji land. That watch is the perfect mix of good block/graphic design and practicality.

I have a Felix the cat watch that broke about 4 years ago & a big blue watch that I always mean to wear...

  22. Beautiful! I love a nicely-designed watch face, so I do.

I've only got one watch, a yellow and black Diesel number that looks like it's made of lego.

  23. i always always used to wear a watch, but then the strap on my most recent one broke, so i replaced it with a ribbon (it felt odd to have a completely bare wrist) and since then... i've never bought another! i do want one of those old retro casio ones though, might have to have a look on ebay... yours is so lovely! glad you could put the photo up, even if blogger wasn't working for you

  24. Great watch - I love the more subtle, understated designs.

I have a fair few watches but tend to only wear one - a vintage one with gold face and brown leather strap that I got at a boot sale for £2. :)
