Really liked this image from the Drawing Instruments collection at Canadian Centre of Architecture
Just a short post today, the main reason for it, is because I was tagged by Claire from Jazzpad to answer some questions so we can all get to know each other a bit more. She also send me a lovely card and some family recipes to me the other day! I will add in a photo of them in the next post. Well here we go;
1.What can you see out of your bedroom window?
I live in between the beach and a really big park so I can see lots of trees, rows and rows of terrace houses but if I look out of the front window I can see Blackpool Tower. I can also see next doors clothes mangle. It could be worse.
2. What is your favourite re-readable book?
Tricky one as I haven't really ever re-read many books, is that lame? I'm going to go for any of Dan Brown's books as I tend to get totally absorbed into them as I find the plots both crazy and fascinating. I'm not religious at all but I'm quite interested in all the ins and outs. Either them or Philip Pullman's Dark Material.
3. Describe your perfect Sunday.
Well this is tricky as for the past 5 years I have worked every Sunday. But I have had the odd one off and I would have to be a lazy day watching some old films (it's got to be Laurel & Hardy), reading some magazines and cooking tea for me and my Mum.
4. If your life was made into a film biopic, who would play you?
Ohh...now that is a tough one! I've never really thought about that but I would have to say Jeff Goldblum. I just love the kind nature of his personality and he gives off a certain quality that demands your attention. Plus we do like a little bit similar, it's the Jewish roots.
5. What's your guilty pleasure?
Hmmmm it's either playing computer games when I really should be working, either Fifa or Everybody's Golf. My mate Jamesy comes round every week or so and we escape for a few hours in front of the goggle box, he usually wins but it's the talking take that counts eh? The other one I would say, has to be Road Wars on Sky3. Why can't I stop watching it!?
6. Are you a dog person or a cat person?
My family have always had cats in my lifetime and maybe 5 years ago I would have said I was a cat person but not anymore. Ever since me and Hollie got together and she introduced me to Tilly, her adorable Tibetan Terrier, I've been totally won other. I would love to get a black mini Schnauzer when I get my own place. I only tend to like smallish dogs though.
7. Name a song which relates to a poignant time in your life.
Quite sad this one but it's stuck with me for a few years. My best friend from high school's Mum past away a few summer's ago and he told me over text, at the time I was listening to Golden Slumbers by The Beatles. I can't listen to that song without feeling incredibly emotional.
8. If you could meet any famous person (dead or alive) who would it be?
Well it's got to be Charles Darwin, I think I would be able to listen to him for days and days. I'm totally obsessed with nature and have been from an early age. I've also became interested in science over the past year or two, so it would be a double wammy. So I would zoom back to around 1860 when I first revealed his groundbreaking workings. Either that or the 1920s and merge in with the Bright Young Things.
Just wanted to say thanks so much for all the feedback you gave me on the painting I did last week. Some really interesting observations made, that I hadn't even thought about. I went off to buy some more canvas' today so I should be doing another one soon. I will be sure to post it, if all goes well.
The only book i read of Dan Brown was The da vinci code, and its so true how you get so absorbed into it. It was one of those books that you couldnt put down to save and cherish a bit later!
ReplyDeleteAnd when i was young i watched the Dark materials in theater but i remember i did fall asleep at one point. but the books were great.
and also that painting is pretty cool, i like the rough paint strokes. i want to get back into painting and drawing, i stopped when i found the computer and digital design.
i miss it!
can i just say, i am totally agreeing with your "currently liking" list :)
ReplyDeleteLoving the questions... so simple but lead to informative answers!
ReplyDeleteMate.... I don't envy the fact that your grafting on a Sunday - My Sundays consist of one rule - be as unproductive as possible!!
Loving the instruments above... I think you might have to go back to uni and complete an additional 7 years to become Mat the architect!
Have you managed to browse through the book of chairs I sent you?

I love that illustration. It really shoes the aesthetics of the architecture of a mechanism. Very complex. It reminds me of Da Vinci for some reason. Anywho, great blog, darlin'. :)

Naturally, I have massive massive love for Darwin... Really interesting!
ReplyDeletePart of me wishes I considered architecture as a career when I was younger... It just seems so interesting. My friend calls architect design "Functional art"....
ReplyDeleteI love the interview! great post! :)
Aaw so glad you answered them :) I do feel like I know you a little better now! And I am so very glad you've been more converted to a dog-person, your gf is teaching you well!
ReplyDeleteHaha your comments made me LOL, "naturally, I have a massive massive love for Darwin..." is that meant to be a joke?!
♥ Claire @ Jazzpad
I didn't make only one cake I made two! haha =D

thanks for the comments on my blog. Tate Britain is totally worth a visit, sometimes I think people just focus on Tate Modern and don't think to give it a go :)
ReplyDeleteLove the drawing in this post!
I love the angular and very blunt style of that image. Not that it's meant to have any meaning behind it!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to meet Darwin too, he sounds like a dude!

This is a really cool post, would never have took you as a football gamer ! Oh you should check out that new film about Darwin, I think he is a unusal character to choose ....I do think he was way beyond his time and I am a 'fact' person more than a 'faith' person. The only thing I would fault he on, was marrying his cousin ...I guess back than it was okay ...still.
ReplyDeleteAnyway love the drawing at the top, its amazing to think what people used back in the day ....maybe if we used those actual tools now, we would have great building's rather than semi good ones.
:p
Tilly is so cute, lover her shaggy fur!!
ReplyDeletegreat answers, enjoyed reading this! i was also tagged so need to get on & answer these myself!
