Happy Birthday Dr. Martens

Thursday 1st April 2010 marked Dr. Martens 50th Birthday, to celebrate they are launching a couple of new ranges including the "Worn" 1460 collection (for all the lazy people!) and new colour in the "Made In England collection.

They have also got a bunch of Dr. Martens fans to talk about why they think the brand has passed the test of time and why they are so special to each of them. Feast your eyes, it's a good watch and great to here a bit about the iconic brand's history;

Here's how I'm wearing mine at the moment;

One 1/2 year old Dr. Martens worn with multi-coloured socks, no names and Topman beige chinos.

The boots are clearly quite a hard looking piece of footwear so at the moment I'm wearing them with trousers that aren't so harsh, just to give a different look to the usual, wearing them with jeans. I'm not completely sure if it works so much yet, what to you think? Good mix of soft and hard?

As I mentioned in my previous post Steve from Style Salvage was lucky enough to take a tour of the Dr. Martens Factory in Northampton last week, there's some great images from his visit. Check out the full post here.

So how do you do/would you wear yours?

Also tomorrow I might give you a sneak preview of a little art project I've been working on, in my spare time.

    Docs take me right back to my teenage years, where i sported a metallic purple pair with 8 eyelets that i bought in an army surplus store to school everyday, and everyone hated them but me. there will always be a place in my heart for Doc Martens!

  3. i like the soft/hard look here....i like it because most manly docmartin wearers wear jeans with them...so cliche. i like the beige trousers...mixing it up!

    i wear my docs with think wooly socks or stockings of all colours/textures(including fishnets...i know tacky right?) or knee high white socks.

  6. Nothing like a pair of worn in Dr. Martens. Whether with a dress, skirt, pants or shorts, they always make a statement.

  11. I really love the way you wear them. Great socks, and amazing photo as well! I used to have a pair back in the day, my pride and joy as I was a young girl growing up in Slovakia and it was a special piece of clothing to own! Now I wear imitations from vintage/second hand stores, same look, a bit more delicate though. Hope they are always around, they are iconic.
