Ah the beautiful Peggy Moffitt, my favourite "swinging 60s" model. How ahead of the time was this hair cut with. The bowl cut pops up from time to time, mostly in fashion circles (or pre 10 years of age at school).
Bowl cuts a plenty featured in Jil Sander's 2010 collection, i don't think anyone can argue with Raf Simons, does he ever get it wrong. Are we seeing another micro-trend here? The fashion world does seen surges from times to time, what with YSL's cut from a few seasons ago and even the New York clubkids The Misshapes, but the the Jil Sander models are sporting a much more smarter look.
I always think it could somehow work in an off-beat, terrifically quirky way but on me, the results would be more than horrendous. Shan't be trying it any time soon.

dito, curly hair is a no no
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw the bowl cuts at Jil Sander, I abosulty hared it. But now, I have to agree with you, it does look smater. Hopefully we don't see men taking real trys at it, but I'm starting to warm up to it. The bowl cuts at YSL's women show back in 08 were more mysterious, I think I loved those more.
ReplyDeleteA big victim of this trend I am.
ReplyDeleteim really for bowl cuts on boys, it's just so unusual to see and when i do see i can't help but smile. be a victim! i wish i could be
ReplyDeleteI remember the days I rocked the bull cut but I was no where near that well dressed haha
ReplyDeleteThe bowl cut is interesting for me..I just can't do it. I had a different haircut than this, but let it get too long one summer as I was away in Tokyo, and it ended up looking like a bowl cut.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was hideous, but my friend later told me it was the epitome of a cool hairstyle in Harajuku at the time. haha
